'Significant number of supporters' identified in police probe

It follows matchday trouble at Vale
POLICE have launched a 'full and thorough' investigation after trouble marred the Port Vale promotion party.
They have so far identified a 'significant' number of supporters who removed segregation netting to attack visiting Gillingham fans.
It followed Gillingham winning the final game of the League Two season at Vale Park as the home side missed out on the league title. Port Vale and Staffordshire Police had allowed home fans to be seated in a section of the Bycars for the promotion party - with netting separating rival fans.
But the netting was removed and Gillingham fans were attacked - much to the 'embarrassment' of Port Vale.
Gillingham FC Supporters' Club says one fan was injured and one supporter left in tears. They have accused Port Vale fans of directing 'Nazi salutes' towards them.
