Residents write off £300k in debts thanks to city charity

Advisors also help net £3.25m in benefits

DEBT advice from a city charity has helped hundreds of some of the most disadvantaged families in Stoke-on-Trent to turn their lives around.

Figures released by Saltbox Money Matters reveal that staff have worked with struggling residents to write off almost £300,000 worth of debt.

They also helped them to receive £3.25m of benefits they were entitled to but were not claiming until staff intervened.

Saltbox chief executive Lloyd Cooke said that the figures for the last 12 months were 'amazing' given the small size of the Money Matters team.
