Quarry plan set for the green light

60 more holiday lodges, a water sports centre... and 250 new full-time jobs
PLANS to build 60 more lodges as part of a holiday park on a former quarry look set to be approved - despite dozens of objections.
The development at Moneystone Quarry at Oakamoor is expected to create 250 jobs but the proposals are proving highly controversial.
The first phase of the scheme, consisting of 190 lodges and a central hub building, was approved on appeal last year, after previously being blocked by district councillors.
A reserved matters application for the second phase, which will include an archery building and water sports centre in addition to the 60 lodges, has now been recommended for approval by planning officers at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
Outline planning permission for a leisure development with up to 250 lodges was granted in 2016.
The latest application has attracted 48 objections from residents, with Oakamoor and Kingsley parish councils and Churnet Valley Conservation Society also opposing the plans.
