Striker Stockley revels in Vale's success, but he's now determined to secure League Two title
JAYDEN Stockley described promotion with Port Vale as “the pinnacle of my career.”
The 31-year-old striker also reckoned his header to put the Valiants 1-0 ahead at AFC Wimbledon was his best in a Vale shirt.
Speaking after the game in London's SW17, which Vale won 2-0 to confirm promotion from League Two, Stockley couldn’t contain his excitement.
“That was incredible, just incredible,’ he said. “Just the game, how intense it was, the away support being so loyal against a tough team to play against. I’m relieved and proud and so pleased to do it with this bunch of boys because I love them all to bits.
“This tops everything. Not only to score but to do it at such a tough place - it’s an incredible achievement for the group and me personally. It’s the pinnacle.
He enjoyed his 86th-minute winner at Crewe Alexandra, but Saturday's goal topped the lot.
“That's the best one,’ he said. “I was having a stinker all game, my touch wasn’t there.
