Talented young rowers launch £6k fundraiser to build on great success in national competitions
A 'SMALL but mighty' junior rowing club has launched a £6,000 fundraiser to help it grow on the national stage.
Trentham Boat Club juniors train all year round and compete locally and nationally, recently winning the Victor Ludorum Junior Award at Chester Regatta.
But the club wants to challenge in even more events and has now launched a fundraising appeal to replace its 'outdated' kit.
Organisers want to buy:
■New oars suitable for juniors, costing £1,200-£1,500;
■A double scull (2x boat), costing £3,000-£4,000;
Replacement safety gear for coaches, life jackets, throw lines, and launch equipment. It is hoped the new kit will help the talented squad 'level the playing field' against wealthier national rivals.
