More milestones ticked off as Hill leads from front
The Sentinel
|August 01, 2025
MICHAEL Hill achieved another couple of landmarks in his impressive NCCA career in Staffordshire's three-day victory over Lincolnshire.
The 34-year-old all-rounder had already ticked off plenty for the county since making his debut back in 2014.
There's been 12 Championship tons, five-wicket hauls in red and white-ball cricket, three divisional titles, two overall crowns and a T20 Cup success.
But at Checkley's Four Trees ground, Hill found more achievements to add to his Staffordshire CV.
He passed 4,000 Championship runs for the county in producing unbeaten knocks of 93 and 87 as Staffs wrapped up a seven-wicket win.
He also captained Staffs for the first time for a whole game as well.
Hill had previously stepped in for a day when James Kettleborough was injured at Norfolk back in 2023.
Kettleborough was unavailable for this week's fixture against Lincs, which meant the vastly-experienced Hill stepped up into the role.
"It was massively different for me as a captain to do it for all three days, rather than one," he said.
"I know on the field I was going to be fine, it's mainly just getting my point across.
