Schizophrenic called 999 while 'blind drunk' claiming he had friends in the IRA
A DRUNKEN man called 999 to say his mate was in the IRA and bombs would be put under police cars to blow up officers.
Steven Ridley, right, who has a long criminal record with 170 offences, claimed he knew members of the IRA who would provide him with explosives.
When arrested, the 53-year-old told how he was going to kill officers at Newcastle and Longton.
He said it was going to be a bloodbath like 9/11.
Now Ridley has been jailed for 14 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
