Man 'secretive about his drug usage' found dead in his room

42-year-old died after accidental overdose

A MAN was tragically found dead on the day he was due to go on a day trip with his girlfriend.

Kieron Betts was discovered in his room at the Adullam Lifehouse, Stoke, on May 2 following a welfare check.

An inquest into his death heard the 42-year-old first began using drugs aged just 26, before spiralling into regular heroin, crack cocaine and monkey dust use. But before his death he had begun taking positive steps towards getting clean.

Police Constable Niamh Hinchcliffe described how Kieron had been planning to go out with his girlfriend, Karen Totty. But concerns quickly grew after Kieron failed to emerge from his room.
