33-year-old branded a 'monster' is jailed
ARSONIST Gareth Machin set fire to his neighbour's house as he believed the man was having a relationship with his ex.
The 33-year-old smashed a window at the address on Christmas Eve and set fire to curtains inside the kitchen. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard no one was inside the property at the time and no one was injured. Now Machin has been jailed for 15 months.
Prosecutor Barry White said the fire service called the police to a fire in Pretoria Road, Etruria, on December 24 as they believed it had been deliberately started. The man who lived there was not at home at the time of the blaze.
Mr White said the fire was in the immediate vicinity of the kitchen and involved naked flames.
