Final details approved following wrangle over bin collections

FINAL plans for a 138-home estate in fields on the edge of a village have been given the go-ahead.

Developers won outline permission for the development off Mucklestone Wood Lane in Loggerheads on appeal, after the plans were originally refused by borough councillors.

Hundreds of people opposed the initial application, saying the homes were not needed and the area lacked the infrastructure to cope with so many newcomers.

But a planning inspector overturned that decision this year, ruling the 12-hectare site was a 'sustainable and suitable site for development'.

Now planning committee members at the council have approved details of the new estate, including its layout and the design of the homes.
