Hem Heath hold off rivals' recovery to secure victory
The Sentinel
|June 12, 2025
HEM Heath fourths clinched a thrilling one-wicket win against Congleton seconds in NSSCL Division Seven.
The fact that Congleton came so close to pocketing the points was remarkable considering the start they made with the bat in the formative stages.
Stefan Stubbs (16) and Jacob Bates (13) made early impressions, but the visitors fell to 58-9.
However, number 11 George Smith struck 44 not out and Tom Farrall made 13 as they recovered to 113 all out.
Muhammad Rahim (3-11), Ben Clarke (3-31) and James Peirson (3-37) took three wickets apiece.
Eddie Henshall then scooped 6-31 for Congleton and there were a couple of scalps for Smith.
