Former Potter Neil insists Robins has club on the up

HAPPY REUNION: Former Stoke boss Alex Neil defeated his old club on Tuesday night.

Neil refused to be drawn on his personal record against Stoke - winning six out of the last seven - after guiding Millwall to a midweek 2-0 victory that leapfrogs his new side over the Potters among the early Championship frontrunners.

But this was a different Stoke in more than one way to the side he left back in late 2023 after an exhaustingly busy 16 months as manager, overhauling the playing squad and staff behind the scenes but without reward on the pitch.

"If you look at Stoke now they are in a different position now to when I went in," he told The Sentinel. "We spoke at length about different cycles you go through at different clubs and I think Mark has now got it in a good place. I think they're a good side and I think they'll do pretty well this season."
