He had been working remotely from Egypt

- Sentinel Reporter

A FOOD delivery firm has been ordered to pay £61,000 to a sales manager who was ‘unfairly’ sacked for working remotely from Egypt.

Tanveer Shah lost his job as the UK field sales manager for Fenton-based Foodhub in 2021. He claimed to have caught Covid-19 on a two-week holiday in Egypt, leaving him unable to fly back to the UK.

The tribunal, held in Birmingham, heard as part of his role Mr Shah was required to spend at least four days a week ‘in the field’ while ‘coaching, mentoring and leading his team’.
