'They have lost absolutely everything - right down to their underwear'

- Thomas Cooper

A FAMILY of five have been left devastated after fire ripped through their home - leaving them with nothing.

The family, a mum and her four children, escape unscathed from the inferno in Berdmore Street, Fenton. But their rented home has been rendered unliveable and all their belongings were destroyed.

Kate Moreton, the mum's sister, said: "They're homeless now. They've got nothing to their name. They've lost absolutely everything, right down to their underwear. All they've got is charitable donations we've managed to collect for them, along with some stuff my family has provided.

"The major concern is finding somewhere to live. My sister has gone away on a holiday she had booked now. The council told her to go on it as a week's paid-for accommodation. But she doesn’t know if she’s coming back to a new property or if she’s going to have to stay with the Red Cross. They're all in limbo.
