Justice for victim 28 years after assault
A POLICE officer who was found guilty of abusing a teenage girl 28 years ago has avoided jail.
Paul Harold was working for Staffordshire Police when he indecently assaulted the 15-year-old girl back in 1997.
The officer later resigned from the force after just nine months in the job. Now Harold - who is 47 and living in Bucknall - has now been sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard Harold arrested his victim for shoplifting in Newcastle in 1997.
Prosecutors said she was vulnerable and living in care at the time.
