Drugs gang jailed for 32 years

Five men supplied cocaine and heroin

FIVE men involved in a conspiracy to supply two class A drugs in Stoke-on-Trent have been jailed for a total of 32 years and seven months.

Jimran Mohammed, aged 38, played a leading role in the conspiracy which ran for almost four months between March 1 and July 20, 2022 and involved the supply of between 1.2 and 1.3 kilograms of cocaine and 1.5 and 1.6 kilograms of heroin.

John Njau, aged 50; Armani Yargol, aged 34; and Zain Kabir, aged 27, performed the role of street dealers. Noor Mohammed, aged 55, ran a safe house where the drugs were kept and Azar Iqbal, aged 45, laundered some of the proceeds of the drug dealing enterprise.

Now Mohammed has been jailed for 10 years; Njau and Yargol were each jailed for seven-and-a-half years; Kabir was jailed for three years and one month; and Noor Mohammed was locked up for four-and-a-half years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Iqbal was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years, with a rehabilitation activity requirement for 15 days.

Prosecutor Marcus Henry said Jimran Mohammed played a leading role in the conspiracy.

Mr Henry said: "He was Q, the name of the drug line. He retained physical possession of the drugs line throughout the period.

He controlled other telephone numbers which were used to delegate drug dealing to those who worked for him.

"They were his employees. He had influence on others in the chain and an expectation of financial advantage.

"He regularly drove rented high-value vehicles including a Mercedes paid for out of the proceeds of this operation."

Mr Henry said Njau, Yargol and Kabir were street dealers on a large number of days but Kabir's involvement was short-lived as he joined the conspiracy in June.
