Police officer suffered 'worst pain in my life' and PTSD

- Sentinel Reporter

A FORMER mixed martial arts fighter's dog will be destroyed after attacking a police officer at the gym where he lived.

Shane Roeton’s Belgian Malinois ‘burst through the doors’ and was ‘fixated’ on the female officer before biting her arm, thigh and calf.

The 41-year-old HGV driver got his dog off the officer and it was put in kennels after he refused to sign it over to the police. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the victim, who has worked in the police for 23 years, has been on ‘restricted duties’ owing to her horrific injuries.

Now a court has ordered the dog is put down and banned Roeton from keeping dogs for 10 years. The mauling happened at Golden Gloves boxing gym, now known as Tuff'n'Up, where Roeton lived with his pet in Kidsgrove Bank.

Prosecutor Hunter Gray said the police officer entered the gym - where she was training for a charity boxing match - at about 5.30pm on March 21 last year using a spare key.
