PORTHILL Park fourths’ Daniel Brownsword delivered an excellent all-round display to earn his side victory over Sandyford seconds in NSSCL Division Five.

Sandyford tumbled to 11-5 in the formative stages, but mounted something of a recovery to eventually reach 93 all out.

Richard Bradshaw (17), Kyle Knapper (16), Umar Akhtar (15) and Asachveer Singh-Kaller (12) offered the visitors’ resistance.

However, Brownsword’s 4-14, plus 4-8 from Aarush Vellaturi, ensured that Porthill Park were in the driving seat.

And Brownsword then compiled an unbeaten 43 to steer the hosts to a five-wicket triumph after the interval.

Zain-Ali Muhammad also played his part with 20, while Joe Warrilow scooped 3-12 for Sandyford.

Meir Heath seconds were relegated after losing to promotion-chasing Whitmore 2nd XI.
