AN ELDERLY couple have had to scrap this year’s holiday - because there's a skip stuck on their drive.

- Thomas Cooper

Ann and John Espley have labelled the situation ‘an absolute nightmare’ They had the skip delivered in March so they could renovate their Longton home. But the now-full skip is still on their property.

It comes after Staffordshire Waste Recycling Centre, in Longport, had a waste permit suspended by the Environment Agency in April.

This week The Sentinel also reported how Claire Stone, of Congleton, who has had one of the firm's skips on her drive since February.

Now Ann, aged 76, said: “We had the bathroom gutted and had a new one put in. Our plumber actually ordered the skip for us. He’s been on to them and they've just given him the same message that’s on their website. He's been down there to try to get it sorted, but nobody was there to see him. He's phoned and he can’t get through. It’s just a waste of time.
