Operator 'has worked closely' with CQC and keen to 'demonstrate progress'
A CITY care home has been told it must improve following its first-ever inspection.
Coopers Croft, in Robert Knox Way, Hartshill, opened in 2023 and caters for up to 66 older people, some of whom are living with dementia.
A Care Quality Commission (CQC) team visited after receiving concerns about 'the management of safeguarding and other incidents which had occurred in the home.' Inspectors judged it 'requires improvement' overall. They rated its service areas of 'caring' and 'responsive' were as 'good, but 'safe, 'effective' and well-led' were as 'requires improvement.
The CQC report stated 'appropriate action' had not always been taken by the provider and management 'to ensure people were safe from the risk of abuse! It added: "Improvements were needed in the assessment and management of risks to people. Systems in place had failed to identify these concerns.
"There was a breach of regulation in relation to safeguarding people from the risk of abuse. The home was purpose built, well maintained and laid out in a homely manner with areas for relaxation and other areas offering activities."
But inspectors said some 'dementia friendly' signs would have benefited residents of the upper floor to 'support people to orientate around their home.' They added the environment was otherwise 'clean and homely.
