Landlady found plants worth up to £63k when chasing him for unpaid rent

- Sentinel Reporter

CANNABIS grower Paul Johnson has been jailed - nearly three years after his plants worth more than £60,000 were discovered.

The 38-year-old rented a house in St Michael’s Road, Chell, and converted it into a cannabis factory with 60 plants across two bedrooms and the loft.

The plants were about four weeks away from maturity, and had a potential value of £63,000 if sold in one gram street deals.

Johnson returned to the address and told police, ‘You have got me. Now he has been jailed for four years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Fiona Cortese said the property's owner visited on June 22, 2022 as she wanted to speak to Johnson about overdue rent.
