GEORGE Byers reckons Port Vale’s players will ignore the outside noise and focus on the task ahead when they travel to AFC Wimbledon tomorrow.

- Clive Youlton

The 28-year-old midfielder has missed a swathe of matches this season through various injuries but suddenly reemerged on the bench at Walsall.

Two further appearances as a substitute have followed - one against Bromley when he scored in the 5-0 triumph - before he was in the starting line-up for the 2-2 draw with Grimsby.

He is likely to start again tomorrow, especially as Ben Garrity, another player to be in and out this season, is absent again.

Focus is the buzzword and Byers said: “It’s such an important stage of the season now.

“Two games to go and we know what we need to do. Saturday is going to be a tough game but we are looking forward to it.

“We have full focus on that, all the other distractions are put to one side.

“There’s noise everywhere, with social media and stuff like that. It’s just important that we stay focused. and try to come into training, train hard, take on what the coaching staff are giving us, the information, take it all on board and get ready for another big game.”
