'Brilliant' midfielder Ojo 'keeps Vale ticking'
The Sentinel
|August 19, 2025
FUNSO Ojo has been a revelation for Port Vale so far this term, and former Valiant Adam Yates is not in the least surprised because of his quality.
-
The midfielder, right, has been superb since emerging as a substitute at halftime against Rotherham on the opening day, and has shone in League One matches against Cardiff City and Burton Albion.
Speaking on BBC Radio Stoke, Yates, who played for Vale for 10 years, has been impressed.
He said: "Everyone can speculate on why he went out to Shrewsbury on loan last year.
"The truth is we don’t know the ins and outs of it. That is speculation, but what isn't speculation is the quality of footballer that he is.
"I have to admit I was surprised he has been picked ahead of Rhys Walters, who I thought has been utterly outstanding and will go for a lot of money in the future.
