Art competition in ex-shopping centre
The Sentinel
|May 22, 2025
ARTISTS are being challenged to take part in a 'visual art takeover' at a former shopping centre before a radical town centre transformation gets under way.
The event, being organised next month by Appetite, Newcastle Business Improvement District and ArtsKeele and ArtSlam NUL, is aimed at bringing the two together before Capital&Centric gets going on the redevelopment of Newcastle.
It will be a live public event where people will be invited to witness art in the making, vote for their favourites, and enjoy a party atmosphere with live DJ sets, bar and unforgettable performances.
ArtSlam is set to take place on June 27 from 7pm at the newly-named Astley Place, the location for a new neighbourhood of homes, shops, and improved community hang-out spots.
