MORE than 10,000 people in Stoke-on-Trent are currently out of work and living on benefits, according to new figures.
The latest Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) claimant count covers people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance or those searching for work on Universal Credit.
It shows the number of claimants in Stoke-on-Trent Central has risen to 5,120 this month - and increased to 3,530 in Stoke-on-Trent North.
But the claimant count has fallen in Stoke-on-Trent South to 2,005.
