Filipino writer and musician Yugel Losorata pursues his passion for writing and music with unwavering dedication, despite being thousands of miles from his beloved homeland.

The last time I spoke to and saw him was on the eve of his departure from the country in 2022.
He recently shared that it had not been an easy ride for him, adjusting to being away from his wife, Kaye, and son, Ryde.
“Life in the US, particularly in California, can be challenging for people who enjoyed some form of limelight or were doing things they're passionate about back in the Philippines. You practically have to start from scratch. Plenty of food, the weather’s fine, hustling is a necessity unless you came here to just escape from the Philippines and not live the American Dream,” he said.
It took him a while to finally find his footing. He currently writes for a healthcare consultancy company and has an entertainment column in a Philippine broadsheet that features successful Filipino Americans and other interesting stories from California.
