Vehicle output revs up 14.7% in 11 months

The Philippines posted the second fastest growth in motor vehicle output in ASEAN in the January to November period last year, rising by 14.7 percent yearon-year.
Data from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Automotive Federation (AAF) showed that vehicles produced in the Philippines as of endNovember increased to 116,650 units from 101,707 units in the same period in 2023.
Posting the highest growth in motor vehicle production in the region during the period was Myanmar, with its output surging by 83.8 percent year-on-year to 2,515 units.
Apart from Myanmar and the Philippines, only Malaysia saw higher motor vehicle output in the region, increasing by 2.4 percent year-on-year to 725,173 units in the January to November period.
Other ASEAN countries tracked by the AAF registered declines in motor vehicle production in the January to November period last year such as Indonesia (-31.8 percent), Thailand (-20.2 percent) and Vietnam (-one percent).
