THE STARS GO ALL OUT AT THE OSCARS

March 07, 2025

The wildfires that ravaged parts of Hollywood's home city of Los Angeles threatened to cast a shadow on the film industry's biggest night and in fact led to the cancellation of some parties, but the 97th Academy Awards — or the Oscars — pushed through nevertheless, giving it a sense of urgency that was highlighted with a tribute to the city of dreams that has been a beacon for filmmakers and creative visionaries for over a century.

THE STARS GO ALL OUT AT THE OSCARS

The crisis did not dim the glitter on the red carpet, either, as stars went all out in their couture best with jewels to match. Some, of course, went over-the-top, making their "out" downright outré. The taste levels may have been questionable but no one's complaining since it made the evening more exciting and entertaining for fashion watchers who have become jaded with the usual mermaid gown clones.

One thing for sure, designer ateliers went all out with millions of Swarovski crystals, sequins, pearls and embroideries, not to mention thousands of artisanal manhours consumed to create the gowns that dazzled at the red carpet.
