Former president Rodrigo Duterte was aware of the rejection by the pretrial judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) of his bid for interim release, according to his brother.

In an interview posted on Alvin and Tourism Facebook page, Duterte's younger brother Bong Duterte said it was the former president who first mentioned the ICC ruling.

“Actually, I did not mention that to him. He mentioned it,” Bong Duterte said, referring to his conversation with the former president during his visit inside the detention cell in The Hague, Netherlands.
