RK KENT CHURNS OUT NEW DANCEABLE SONG
The Philippine Star
|November 19, 2025
RK Kent has established himself as an independent rapper who can churn out danceable, feelgood tunes. The prolific songwriter from Davao City is also into cooking up campaign jingles and socially relevant songs.
His ditty, Wow Ganda, was used as the soundtrack of “Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis,” the GMA weekend action-comedy-drama show.
The STAR and other print, broadcast and online media joined a recent media call for RK Kent's latest song, Shake it Baam. Yes, it’s another danceable track from him.
His publicity team described it as a “song guaranteed to energize listeners and get the whole country dancing.”
“Danceable rap” is how RK Kent labels his music genre.
“I had a group before,” began RK Kent in response to the question from this paper. “Just like any other (groups), we did gigs from one barangay to another. They eventually had their own families. So in 2014, I went solo.”
As part of the group, RK Kent was the one doing the lyrics and writing. The latter came in handy when he embarked on a career as a new artist.
Like comedian, rapper and singer Michael V, he did song parodies in Bisaya. From there, he tried his hand at genres such as love rap, underground music and reggaeton.
