Quo warranto petition filed against Erwin Tulfo
The Philippine Star
|October 28, 2025
Sen. Erwin Tulfo is facing legal action challenging his right to be in office due to citizenship, the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) bared yesterday.
During its budget hearing before the chamber, SET deputy secretary Eleanor Francisco-Anunciacion said the tribunal is handling a quo warranto petition filed on July 15, 2025 or two months since newly elected senators were proclaimed winners.
“For case adjudication, we have a petition for quo warranto against one of the members of the Senate filed on July 15, 2025 on the ground of alleged ineligibility due to citizenship,” Anunciacion told the finance committee.
While the SET did not verbally mention Tulfo nor details of his case during the hearing, its presentation showed that disbarred lawyer Berteni Causing filed the case against Tulfo.
