PNP bans lavish Christmas parties

Heeding the call of President Marcos for government officials and employees to scale down Christmas parties, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has prohibited lavish parties during the holiday season.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil issued the directive to police officials after Malacañang encouraged government agencies to avoid extravagant celebrations as a form of solidarity with millions of Filipinos affected by the onslaught of six typhoons.
The savings from shunning expensive parties would be used to assist those who were affected by the typhoons, inPolice Community Relations cluding PNP members, Directorate for (DPCR) director Maj. Gen.
Roderick Augustus Alba said in an interview yesterday.
