HK Pitched as Springboard for PH Firms' Global Expansion

Philippine firms are urged to consider Hong Kong as a springboard for their overseas expansion given its free and open business environment.

Alpha Lau, director general of Invest Hong Kong, said in a media roundtable yesterday that the agency wants to encourage Philippine firms to use Hong Kong as an investment ground for business success.

Invest Hong Kong is a government agency responsible for attracting and facilitating investments into Hong Kong.

"We want to see more opportunities particularly for your tech companies and entrepreneurs to expand overseas, and Hong Kong is the best place to do it," Lau said.

She said firms planning dual listings could consider Hong Kong, given its vibrant stock exchange and high liquidity.

"This is the world's global financial center and we welcome all companies to use Hong Kong as a funding source," she said.
