GSIS earns P139 M from DigiPlus investment

State-run Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) already made more than P100 million from its investment in digital entertainment platform DigiPlus Interactive Corp.

Defending the investment as a calculated risk, GSIS president and general manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso said the deal has yielded P139 million gains from what it had ventured on the online gambling platform.

“On DigiPlus alone, the dividend, we already made P139 million on that,” Veloso said at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay.

“It is not a gamble. When you're in the investment business, you make calculated risks, you do research and you study,” he said.

At the onset of Veloso’s suspension last August, GSIS had previously defended its investment, citing that the agency remains committed to transparency and accountability in all its financial undertakings.
