Factory Activity Growth Slows in August
The Philippine Star
|September 02, 2025
Manufacturing activity in the country grew at a slightly slower pace in August from the previous month as output and new orders remained subdued.
S&P Global said in a statement yesterday that the Philippines' manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) reading was at 50.8 in August, down slightly from 50.9 in July.
The PMI, which tracks the performance of the manufacturing sector, is generated from a survey of around 400 manufacturers. It takes into account new orders, output, employment, suppliers' delivery times and stocks of purchases.
A reading above 50 indicates an increase from the previous month, while below 50 denotes a decline.
