Economy may grow by 5.1% this year - UA&P

The Philippine economy is expected to grow below the government's 5.5 to 6.5 percent growth target for this year amid corruption issues, according to the University of Asia and the Pacific.
During the UA&P’s Year-end Business Economics Briefing yesterday, UA&P economist Victor Abola said the economy is forecasted to grow by 5.1 percent this year.
This is a downgrade from the 5.5 percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast provided by the UA&P in its The Market Call - Capital Markets Research for October.
The country’s GDP growth in the third quarter slowed to four percent, a four-year low as the flood control scandal led to a contraction in public construction and dampened consumer and investor sentiment.
