DOJ indicts GK founder Meloto for sex trafficking

State prosecutors have recommended the filing of qualified sex trafficking charges against Gawad Kalinga (GK) founder Tony Meloto, who has been accused of sexual harassment by two beneficiaries.
In a 16-page joint review resolution, the Department of Justice’s National Prosecution Service approved the filing of two counts of violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 in court against Meloto.
In complaints filed last year, the two boys, who were beneficiaries of GK’s School for Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) in Angat, Bulacan, accused Meloto of acts of lasciviousness, sexual harassment and human trafficking during their stay in the GK Enchanted Farm.
One complainant also experienced abuse while on a speaking engagement with Meloto for GK in Lyon, France.
They also accused Meloto of grabbing the crotches of GK scholars.
