DOF to Treasury: Finalize spending optimization plan

The Philippine Star

November 24, 2025

The Department of Finance (DOF) urged the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) to submit recommendations on spending optimization, as discussions on budget have often stalled, and that the government must finalize its financial plan and identify necessary adjustments.

- By MARCO LUIS BEECH

In a meeting, newly appointed DOF chief Frederick Go underscored the need for setting realistic and attainable revenue targets, noting that the government must undertake the necessary budgetary adjustment.

"I want to hear your team’s recommendations on key areas where we can optimize spending, because that’s often where discussions stall. We need to finalize the plan and determine the necessary adjustments," Go told BTr officials.
