RTI activist demands transparency in river-bed material pricing

Social activist and RTI campaigner S. Balvinder Singh has strongly criticized the alleged inaction of the Department of Geology and Mining for not publicly displaying the approved rate list of riverbed materials meant for public purchase.
Singh said the government is legally and morally bound to ensure transparency in the pricing of natural resources. He urged the department to publish the rates of riverbed materials at quarry sites and on an F.O.R. (Free on Road) destination basis, inclusive of royalty. He further stressed that prices should be notified in volumetric units
