Study says 'women bias' in command, seeks review of Army induction policy
The New Indian Express
|November 27, 2024
In a comprehensive study of the women Commanding Officers (COs) in the Indian Army's important 17 Corps, some positive inputs were noted, but the majority called for adjustments at the training levels.
The study involved the women officers posted in Army's Brahmastra Corps (17 Corps) which has eight such officers in Command (other than AMC).
The in-house review was conducted based on demonstrated performance of these officers, leading to identification of several issues.
These issues included difficulties in interpersonal relations, a tendency to complain, over exerting command centralized decision-making, a misplaced sense of entitlement, a lack of empathy, low tolerance for ambiguity, and an overall lack of ambition.
The study has not enumerated only the problem areas but has followed it with the reasons attributable to the concerns with a recommendation for deeper delving ahead.
