SL Navy arrests 17 more Rameswaram fishermen

THE Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 17 fishermen hailing from Rameswaram for the alleged violation of the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the wee hours of Sunday.

They were taken to Mannar for further legal proceedings. Condemning the arrests, fishermen staged a roadblock protest on the highways near Thangachimadam.
Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday wrote a letter to Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, urging him to take immediate diplomatic steps to secure the release of Tamil Nadu fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy, along with their fishing boats.
