'Pangs of separation' at Attari
The New Indian Express
|April 29, 2025
THE atmosphere at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari turned emotional on Monday as the approaching deadline for Pakistani visa holders to leave India impacted families, children separated from mothers or couples forced to leave a spouse behind.
In the last four days, 537 Pakistani nationals, including nine diplomats and officials, left India through the border as the exit deadline for 12 categories of short-term visa holders ended Sunday. Eighty-one left on April 26, 191 on April 25 and 28 on April 24. Around 850 Indians, including 14 diplomats and officials, returned from Pakistan through this border.
Tuesday is the deadline for those coming to India with medical visas to return.
