NHRC seeks report on ‘JCB' whipping Bengal couple in full public view

THE National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a couple being brutally beaten up in a village in West Bengal's Uttar Dinajpur district by a group of people, led by a Trinamool Congress local leader, and issued notices to the state chief secretary and director general of police, calling for a detailed report within a week.
Governor CV Anand Bose on Monday wrote to CM Mamata Banerjee enquiring about the incident. He will visit the area on Tuesday where the incident took place.
