Muthu, Karunanidhi's eldest son, passes away in Chennai at age 77

THE eldest son of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi and brother of Chief Minister Stalin, M K Muthu, died due to age-related complications at the age of 77 at his house in Injambakkam, Chennai, on Saturday morning.
Muthu was born to Karunanidhi's wife, Padmavathi, who died at the age of 20 in 1948, just a few days after giving birth to him. He was named after Karunanidhi's father, Muthuvel, as per Padmavathi's final wish.
Muthu is survived by wife Sivagamasundari, son Arivunidhi and daughter Thenmozhi, who got married to C K Ranganathan, owner of CavinKare.
