Govt may give forest dept 96 acres of reclaimed Perungudi dump site

Final decision will be taken after Anna University conducts study on soil below land surface
THE state government is mulling the allotment of 96 acres of reclaimed Perungudi dump site, located inside the Pallikaranai Ramsar site, to the forest department. A final decision will be taken after a comprehensive scientific assessment of soil condition underneath the land surface.
On Monday, Blue Planet's portfolio company, Zigma Global Environ Solutions, which was awarded the tender to dispose of the legacy waste at Perungudi dump yard by Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) in February 2021, announced that it has completed its task and processed 1.73 million cubic metres of solid waste.
