Breach in fortress may force BJP to rejig organisation in Gujarat

THE BJP is likely to revamp its organisational set-up after the saffron party failed to win all 26 seats in the state in the Lok Sabha elections, party leaders aware of the matter said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party had won all the Lok Sabha seats in the 2014 and 2019 elections. This time it missed out on a hat-trick victory as the Congress won the Banaskantha seat in north Gujarat after a decade.
Geniben Thakor won the seat by more than 30,000 votes defeating BJP's Rekha Chaudhari. Despite its leaders' statements, the BJP failed to win each seat with a lead of over five lakh votes.
"In light of this outcome, significant organisational changes are expected within the Gujarat BJP after the NDA government is formed at the Centre," a party leader said, wishing not to be named.
