Blow off some 'Steam' with this cosy game

IT'S that time of the year when most gamers want to know the same thing: "What did you buy on the Steam Summer Sale?" For those new to games, Steam is a one-stop platform for PC gamers to get their fix online.

Every once in a while, they have a huge sale that makes many of us able to access previously unaffordable iconic videogames. So I panicked a little at the number of choices, and ultimately ended up buying just one game 'Hello Kitty Island Adventure'. And you know what? I'm quite pleased with this decision.

Hello Kitty, among a handful of other such games, is actually an act of quiet rebellion. It emerges as an underdog in this world of increasingly violent games. This ruthless world, where even Club Penguin became unprofitable. It resists the need to have combat and complexity. It resists the urge to fight for resources, argue online, and expend energy on an activity that, in reality, is meant to be something we do to relax and unwind. There isn't a lot to this game, and that's kind of the whole point.
