Social welfare department to soon probe Rithanya's death

THE social welfare department will soon conduct an inquiry into the death of A Rithanya, who allegedly died by suicide due to dowry harassment, said AS Kumari, chairperson of Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women, in Tiruppur on Monday.

"A complaint regarding Rithanya's suicide case was received by the chief minister's cell and forwarded to the collector. The collector sent it to the social welfare officer on Friday. Soon, the social welfare department will conduct an inquiry," she added.
