Rly works eligible for GST concession

THE Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has held that contracts awarded by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for railway infrastructure development works are eligible for the concessional rate of 12% GST.
Justice Mohammed Shaffiq passed the order recently on the petitions filed by a joint venture between Stroytech Service LLC, Russia, and KEC International Limited, challenging the orders of state tax officer imposing 18% GST for the contracts awarded by RVNL for doubling of track between Vanchi Maniyachchi and Nagercoil.
