Centre sits on nod; minister, MLAs' swearing-in delayed

The much-anticipated swearing-in ceremony of a new minister and three nominated MLAs in Puducherry Assembly is continuing to face delays, reportedly due to pending approval from the centre.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy had, on June 28, recommended the induction of BJP MLA A John Kumar into the cabinet, while the Union Ministry of Home Affairs finalised names of three nominated MLAs. However, even after four days, the Centre is yet to issue the appointment order for either the minister or the nominated legislators.
Home Minister A Namassivayam attributed the delay to the Presidential approval. However, the political vacuum has stirred speculation in party and administrative circles, with concerns being raised over legal hurdles and internal party dynamics.
